On July 18th, 2025, join author and former mayor Ben Schierer at the iconic Split Rock Lighthouse for a special book signing event. Dark Sky Caravan with the Marshall W. Alworth Planetarium
From August 11th to 16th, the North Shore will glow under the 8th annual Dark Sky Caravan, a traveling star party hosted by the University of Minnesota Duluth’s Marshall W. Alworth Planetarium. Each night from 8 to 11 PM, explore telescope viewings, planetarium demos, and digital sky tours at scenic stops including Duluth, Split Rock Lighthouse (featuring night sky photography by John Gregor), Tettegouche State Park, North House Folk School in Grand Marais, and two spots along the Gunflint Trail.
